Hey Everyone,

I hope you're all been able to enjoy the warm Fall weather. Autumn is can be such a beautiful season - too bad its often too short. This Fall promises more than the usual changes with elections taking place both here in Saskatchewan and south of the border. So it seems appropriate to feature a game that recreates the machinations that these important events.

Our Feature Game for October is going to be one themed on the USA elections called Campaign Trail. This a strategy board game in which players pit their campaign skills against one another as they vie for the Presidency of the United States. You have just accepted your party's nomination for President of the United States. Now it's time to hit the Campaign Trail! How will you chart your path to victory? Engage in grass roots campaigning, advertise, sling mud at opponents, fund raise, debate, and so much more! But be sure to avoid revealing those skeletons you have buried in your closet. The candidate who best manages their resources and connects with the public on key issues will win the presidency!

Of course, as always, there will also be many other games available to be played.

!!! If you have a game you'd like to play and draw some attention to, feel free to volunteer for future Feature Game slots. Just drop me a note at feature_friday@hotmail.com.

Feature Friday meets at Southside Pentecostal Assembly (41 Birchwood Rd) from 7pm to midnight. There is parking and an entrance at the back of the building. A snack table will be set up so feel free to contribute a drink or something to munch on. And feel free to bring along friends (and to forward this invite).

Hope you'll be there,

Allan

**ALSO**
At the July Feature Friday, a game was forgotten by one of the attendees. If you picked up "FEUD", let me know or bring it out so we can get it back to its owner.

**UPDATE**

We will be meeting in a room down the hall this Friday (just follow the posted signs).

Another group will be in the building using the sanctuary as they rehearse a drama that they will be presenting this weekend.

Hi all,

With September upon us, and life's normal routines once again back in full swing, it's time for the 2024 edition of FragCon at the end of the month. One of the games that will be played at the Con is Railways of the World. If this game intrigues you, come out a week prior to Feature Friday and give it a try.

Originally, the game was released under the name of Railroad Tycoon but later rebranded as Railways of the World. Players take on the role of the Train Barons in a young United States during the early days of the Age of Steam. Each player begins with a locomotive (the venerable John Bull, the first locomotive to run in North America) and a vision (your Tycoon "mission" card). From there, you will build your budding railroad network into a vast empire. Connect New York to Chicago, earn the most money, develop bigger and faster locomotives as you seek to tap into the vast resources of the North American continent!

Of course, as always, there will also be many other games available to be played.

Hey all,

I'm sure many of you have been busy and now can hardly believe that summer is already past the midway point - again! This summer I've found myself super involved in soccer playing dozens of games. But that's all wrapped up for the season and I'm looking forward to an evening of gaming.

For the August Feature Game, we'll explore a time when the great city of Venice wasn't a tourist destination but a dominant economic and political world power. In the game Serenissima, players take on the mantle of 1 of 4 great Mediterranean powers seeking to extend their sphere of influence.  In the course of a game, players must build galleys, hire crew and buy/sell commodities. The value of goods can be influenced by players having monopolies in certain commodities. Players can also take control of ports, thereby earning extra income from players using the port, as well as being able to get that port's specific commodity. It's a era of deal making, intrigue, and competition.

As well, as always, there will be other games available to be played.

Hello all,

I hope you're all enjoying the green of Regina - I don't remember a rainier June.

Our Feature Game for July will be Evacuation. The game begins on an unnamed dying planet. Players are seeking to transport their population and its associated economy to a new safe haven. Industries must be dismantled and then re-established in the new home. New resources need to be accessed to replace those that are no longer available from the old world. Will you be the best to utilize the actions and opportunities available to you so that your faction is the preeminent in the new frontier?

Of course, as always, there will also be many other games available to be played.

Hey everyone,

June is here. School is wrapping up, summer is so close we can taste it. It's the time of vacations and relaxing weekends. It's a calm before this fall and all the real crazy breaking out. It's elections this year and it'll be nuts.

Our Feature Game for June is going to be one themed on the USA elections called Campaign Trail. This a strategy board game in which players pit their campaign skills against one another as they vie for the Presidency of the United States. Hello everyone,

The Feature Game of May, is going to be the civilization game called Antike. In this game, players guide an ancient faction in its attempt to dominate the world of antiquity. They will establish cities and temples, discover new principles of science and technology, navigate the uncertain waters of war and diplomacy, all so that they might win over kings, scholars, generals, citizens, and navigators. In Antike, players cannot rely on luck. It's only through whit and thoughtful plans that they might achieve victory.

Of course, as always, there will also be many other games available to be played.

Hi everyone,

Spring is here and the snow is gone. Time to go sailing! April's Feature Game will be one of gathering friends and acquaintances for a 'fun' trip of adventure - Viking-style!

Raiders of the North Sea is set in the central years of the Viking Age. As Viking warriors, players seek to impress the Chieftain by raiding unsuspecting settlements. To do so, players need to assemble a crew, collect provisions, and journey north to plunder gold, iron and livestock. Glory can be found in battle, even at the hands of the Valkyrie, so gather your warriors because it's raiding season!

Of course, as always, there will be many other games available to be played.

Hi everyone,

March is here and that means ... the start of a New Year! Well, maybe not here in Canada, but if we were to go back to the time of the Romans this would be true. March was when the Romans would begin their military campaigns and so they marked it as the beginning of their new year. The Roman calendar still echos into ours today (hint: September, October, November, December) and in remembrance of this, the Feature Game this month will have a military theme.

The game for March will be a classic of Ameritrash, Shogun. Released in 1986, and subsequently republished under a couple of different names, Shogun focuses on the chaotic feudal society of Japan during the Middle Ages. Players play one of several factions that erupt into a civil war, trying to consolidate their strongholds and then defeat other armies for the right to be called Shogun, the supreme ruler.

Of course, as always, there will be many other games available to be played.
