Title: Prairie Game eXpo Volunteer Schedule (Saturday, April 1st, 2023)
Post by: Dana_Tillusz on February 08, 2023, 01:58:20 PM
Prairie Game eXpo is made possible thanks to the help of volunteers. This thread is to help schedule volunteers running the Prairie Game eXpo.

All Volunteers will receive an extra opportunity to win for all the game prize draws.

Registration Table Schedule
Role: Welcoming attendees, making sure everyone signs the log book, answering questions.

10am - 11am: tlh878
11am - 12pm: JohnnyThrust
12pm - 1pm: jilly
1pm - 2pm: Tempest
2pm - 3pm:  Mike Mcc.
3pm - 4pm: Reynard
4pm - 5pm: bboileau
5pm on: Open doors. We ask that all ambassadors keep watch for people in need.

Learn to Play
Role: Teaching easy / accessible games to people. "Learn to Play" is a PGX initiative to help introduce new games to PGX attendees. We will have three time slots available. We would like one, perhaps two volunteers for each game in each time slot. Game teachers will teach a single game to groups of people over a two-hour block. Please contact us here if you're interested.

10-12 - Mayhem. Game Teacher - NeikeDjour
12-2 - 7 Wonders (2nd Ed.). Game Teacher - Lori
2-4 - Wingspan. Game Teacher - Tempest
2-4 - The Game - bboileau

Please let us know if you are able to lend a hand at Prairie Game eXpo. Please reply to this forum.

I'll do the first shift at the registration table. (10am-11am). I can also come earlier to help with setup if that's needed.

I wasn't sure who to reach out to, so I'll just reply here as well, if you want to spread the word a little bit and have a poster let me know and I can put one up at my work.

Excellent. Just send me a message ahead of time so I can make sure someone's here to receive it haha.

Thanks! I was going through my list and I was thinking maybe Mayhem, I have the Looney Tunes version. I haven't played it yet though, so I'll get a few games in soon and decide if it would be a good one to set up. I feel like even just the figures might get passers-by interested, it's relatively new, and if I recall correctly it's supposed to be a light game.

I'll get back to you.

Okay, I would like to volunteer for the 1-2 slot at the registration desk, and volunteer to teach games in the 2-4 slot, if that's okay.

I'm open to suggestions, but I was thinking something out of:

Space Base
Wingspan
Small World

I could also potentially do lighter fare, like Codenames, or Sushi Go. I'm open to suggestions :D

Mayhem would be great! We plan on trying the Teen Titans Go version this week.

Those all work, Tempest. All of them would draw interest.

Space Base is a game I'm definitely interested in playing. Maybe later in the day or a future Meeple Monday?

Sure, put Wingspan in the L2P slot, and I can bring Space Base along just in case!

Mayhem would be great! We plan on trying the Teen Titans Go version this week.

I got 2 games of it in over the weekend, I think it would be a good LTP. We ended up having a difficult first match cause we picked a bunch of expansion characters with weird movesets. The second game went better when we chose base characters.

I'm thinking I might have to make a symbol sheet for it, we had to keep looking them up in the rulebook.

I think something got mixed up on the scheduling there; I think I ended up in the 12-2 L2P slot, and at the desk from 1-2; I can help out before or after, but probably not during haha.

Must've been a mistake.
Seeing as it's not something people are signing up for ahead of time, I've just changed the time for it to 2-4pm.

I see that no one is covering the registration table from 2pm - 3pm.
Oh wait... everyone is in the 7 Wonders tournament.

Hmm... tough choice....

Well... I am the reigning PGX 7 Wonders champion so I should defend my title... on the other hand I should share and let someone else be champion for a while.

Oh, ok... I'll cover the door from 2 until 3.

Thanks to the volunteers who worked the registration desk, did Learn to Play, and, in general, helped out at Prairie Game Expo. We had 159 attendees which was 3 times the amount we were hoping for. I spoke to the Shriners throughout the day and at the end of the event and they were very very pleased.

This was our first Prairie Game Expo in three years and we had a new venue and new partners in the Shriners.

We'd like your feedback from a volunteer's perspective.

The next Prairie Game Expo is Saturday, October 7, 2023. Same venue. Same space.
