The game is played using a deck of cards – each of the 52 cards corresponds to a week during the quiet year. Each card triggers certain events – bringing bad news, good omens, project delays and sudden changes in luck. At the end of the quiet year, the Frost Shepherds will come, ending the game.

A game plays out over 3 rounds, called Ages, during which you simultaneously play cards, one at a time, to develop your City.
These cards represent the various Buildings you can construct: resource producers, civilian, commercial, military, scientific structures, and guilds.
At the end of each Age, you go to war with your nearest neighbours. At the end of all 3 Ages, you tally up all of the victory points earned by your City, your wonder, your military prowess, and your treasury. The player with the highest score wins the game.https://youtu.be/XnBLz61FJYw

Yeah. The game is really inventive and the storytelling is entirely flexible and collaborative. The designer doesn't identify who the Frost Shepherds are, but leaves it to the imagination of the players.

Sign me up for great western trail Argentina
I would to join the 7 wonder tournament please.
Please add Marshall and Jessica to Creature Comforts
We are planning to attend the expo on Saturday. So that the spots don't all fill up, please add me (Carmen Pauls Orthner) and my daughter Sara Orthner to the 10 am Trekking Through History game and my husband Bryan Orthner to the 10:30 am Great Western Trail: Argentina game. We'd also be interested in the 5 pm Starfinder game - all three of us. Sara is 13 and the only one of us who has played an RPG (she's done 2 campaigns of Dungeon World with Allan Dotson as DM), but we're all interested in learning. We have a couple of outside commitments that day so will need to come-and-go a bit, but we're keen to attend our first eXpo. :)
Got you slotted in Carmen and family. I hope you enjoy your day at PGX!
Thanks, Lori!
Please sign me up for the Seven Wonders tournament!
Stephen Whitworth (Puty)
Please sign me up for the 7 Wonders tournament. Thanks
Put me down for Battletech. Looking forward to stompy robot action. Are you guys running Classic, Alpha Strike, or a bit of both?
Afternoon all!
Please mark me down for the 5:00pm Starfinder game with Carmen, Sara and Bryan (Thanks Cory for posting these!). I'll be there sometime before 5pm but can't make it for the 2pm 7 Wonders tourney but hopefully can get some board gaming in before and after the RPG. Looking forward to seeing people I haven't seen since last PGX! Thanks Dana and Chad for putting this on again!
Carlos
Hey, can you sign me up for the 7 Wonders Tournament please!
Also, has there been any Xwing announced yet?
I'll sign up for the last Trekking Through History spot.
I'm looking forward to a great day of games!

Lance is doing Classic.
Kyle is doing Alpha Strike.
Laurie and Parry Johnson will be there! (We'll be bringing a few games, too. One we'd like to share is "Doubles Wild," which is a bit like a board game version of Bejeweled, but it's also Mensa approved. So, if you feel like a genius -- join right in!)

HIGHLIGHTS:
(1) Prairie Game Expo returned after a three year hiatus.
(2) 165 attendees!!!
(3) Big thanks to anyone who taught games at Prairie Game Expo-- whether you were an official Prairie Game Expo Host or an attendee kind enough to invite people to your table. Folks who help set-up and tear down, worked the front desk, and, in general, were helpful also deserve thanks.
(4) We had 9 players for a Star Wars Legion tournament organized by Leslie B from Saskatoon.
(5) We had 21 players for the 7 Wonders tournament. Chris S won the tournament. He already owned a copy of the Edifice expansion so he passed his prize along to Rob S who finished in second place. Thanks to Dana T for organizing and running that tournament, and to ComicReaders' partner Asmodee Canada for the tournament support.
(6) Thanks to our new venue partners the Regina Shriners for an excellent venue.
(7) Thanks to SaskGames' volunteers for being an important part of this event. SaskGames' executive and volunteers have been stalwart partners with ComicReaders for 10+ years. Dana and I (Chad) from ComicReaders have really enjoyed working with all these fine people again. They often go unnamed and sometimes unnoticed but they know who they are and we know who they are and they are appreciated and respected by the whole ComicReaders team.
Also, if you have any thoughts or feedback about these events, send an email to PGX@SaskGames.com (PGX@SaskGames.com)
PRIZES!!
Sorry it took me a few days to get this done.

Letter Jam won by Toadified
Both these items are available for pick up at ComicReaders South - 4603 Albert Street. If the downtown location is more convenient let me know and I'll ship them downtown!
AND I went over the attendance sheets and we had a total of 165 people. I've edited Chad's post above.
Thanks everyone! I had a great time. See you in October or sooner if you attend Meeple Monday.
What's the date for the next eXpo? Will it be on a Saturday again?
Wanted to make it out but was sick all weekend, sounds like it was a success ! See you all at the next one !
Quote from: northcarmen on April 03, 2023, 07:03:12 PMWhat's the date for the next eXpo? Will it be on a Saturday again?
It will be a Saturday. We will do an announcement soon and start a new message thread for the next PGX and all the fun things we will be planning.
I can say the next Prairie Game Expo will be in the fall of 2023.
Fall probably feels like a long ways away, but there is a lot of gaming coming up including more Meeple Monday, FRAG Game Days, Feature Friday (once a month), and more. Watch the Calendar on SaskGames as various groups build out their gaming schedules for April and May.
Thanks!
Oh I won a prize? I was jut there and bought a game but didn't identify myself. Please ask Dana to reach out if I haven't picked up the game by Wednesday.
The new PGX event will be October 7th. Doors open at 10 am. Hope to see you there:
