Saskatchewan has a growing community of board game and role playing game designers. PGX supports local game designers showcase their games by hosting a "Game Designer's Corner" in which there will be demos and play tests of local designs featured throughout the day.

GAME: Pawn
DESIGNER: Thomas Boxall
START TIME: 11:00
DURATION: 1-2 hours
Pawn is a horror-based RPG/Card hybrid game. Players are thrown into a world where they are the unwilling pawns of Armageddon. Will they choose to give into their sins? Will they be virtuous? Will they survive??? Pawn must be played with at least 5 players: two Avatars (Gamemasters), and at least 3 Pawns (Player Characters).

GAME: Galactic Payload (https://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/231473/galactic-payload)
DESIGNER: Nathan Ottenson
START TIME: 1:00 pm
DURATION: 2 hours

1.
2.
3.
4.

The goal of Galactic Payload is to be the first to colonize your home planet. Players accomplish this by trading the resources their home planet produces with trading outposts spread out through six separate sectors across the galaxy. The trade conditions dynamically change every turn for every sector. Players may also spend resources to upgrade their ship and to build mining outposts that passively collect more resources every turn.

Every ship produces 'Powercubes' on every turn. These 'Powercubes' are then spent to move across the galaxy and then allocated to the players ship systems such as Shields, Weapons or Thrusters. These are used to protect the player from hazards such as Pirates and other players. The first player to return six units of each resource that their home planet does not produce wins the game.

GAME: First Past the Post
DESIGNER: Derek Turner
START TIME: 3:00 pm
DURATION: 2 hours (+20 minutes discussion time afterward)

First Past the Post is an area control game set in the wild and wacky world of Canadian politics. Players compete as parties to gain popularity in various areas of the country, each of which provides the parties with more popularity with a special ability. The game involves managing your popularity across the country and translating it into influence over the course of the five rounds that simulate the length of a Canadian electoral campaign. At the end of the game, the influence will translate into seats, and the parties will find out who wins the House of Commons!

This will be only the third play test of First Past the Post, so players will be enabled and encouraged to give significant feedback on the game in a short discussion afterward.

GAME:Secrets
ORGANIZER: Chad Boudreau
START TIME: 9:00am & 10:00am
DURATION: approx. 30 minutes per game
PLAYERS: 6 players per game
DETAILS: In Secrets, the second co-design between Eric Lang and Bruno Faidutti, players are assigned a hidden team — the CIA or KGB — and are trying to collect the most points for their side. In addition, one or two players are secretly anti-establishment Hippies who are working for nobody. Their goal is to fight the Man and have the fewest points.

On your turn, offer one of two randomly drawn agent cards to another player. These cards are worth points and have varying good or bad abilities. That player either accepts the agent, in which case they score it, or they refuse, in which case the card returns to you, and you score it. The game ends when a player has five cards, after which the teams are revealed; the team with the highest combined score wins, unless a Hippie has the single lowest score, in which case they win.

The interactions between the character cards are the spice of the game, but since the abilities are discovered during play, the game can be taught in mere minutes.

Chad Boudreau will run multiple games of Secrets starting at 9:00am and 10:00am. Each game supports 6 players.

GAME: Netrunner
ORGANIZER: Nick Murphy
START TIME: 11:00am - 3:00pm
DURATION: 75 minutes
PLAYERS: 2 players per game
DETAILS: Android: Netrunner is an asymmetrical Living Card Game for two players. Set in the cyberpunk future of Android and Infiltration, the game pits a megacorporation and its massive resources against the subversive talents of lone runners. Corporations seek to score agendas by advancing them. Doing so takes time and credits. To buy the time and earn the credits they need, they must secure their servers and data forts with "ice". These security programs come in different varieties, from simple barriers, to code gates and aggressive sentries. They serve as the corporation's virtual eyes, ears, and machine guns on the sprawling information superhighways of the network.

Nick Murphy returns to Prairie Game Expo to showcase Netunner LCG from Fantasy Flight Games. Nick is available to answer questions about the game, teach the game to new players, and to challenge existing players. Other Netrunner players are welcome to join Prairie Game Expo. Anyone who plays Netrunner at Prairie Game Expo will receive Netrunner promo cards courtesy of ComicReaders Downtown (while supplies last).

Pre-registration is not required, but it would be helpful to let Nick and other Netrunner players know if you are planning to attend.

GAME: Dragon Ball Super Card Game
ORGANIZER: Hayden / Adam
START TIME: 11:00am - 3:00pm
DURATION: varies
PLAYERS: 2 players per game
DETAILS: The Dragon Ball Super Card Game is the newest iteration of the Dragon Ball license applied to a collectible card game. While borrowing some basic terms and ideas from previous versions of the game, DBS introduces a number of new mechanics including a unique "combo" system, cards used for multiple purposes (energy, combos and characters) and a system designed to emulate the tendency of Dragon Ball characters to "power up" after taking damage.

Prairie Game Expo is excited to announce Hayden and Adam (moderators of the Dragon Ball Super TCG Club) will be attending from 11:00am - 3:00pm to showcase the new Dragon Ball Super Card Game. Adam and Hayden are available to battle existing players, teach new players, and answer questions. Existing players are encouraged to bring their own decks. New players can make use of a introductory deck provided by ComicReaders. Each new player will receive and can keep the introductory deck. (Decks available while supplies last.)

GAME: Pawn
DESIGNER: Thomas Boxall
START TIME: 11:00
DURATION: 1-2 hours
Pawn is a Horror based RPG-Card hybrid game.  Players are thrown into a world where they are the unwilling pawns of armageddon.  Will they choose to give into their sins?  Will they be virtuous?  Will they survive???
Pawn must be played with at least 5 players (two Avatars (Gamemasters), and at least 3 Pawns (Player Characters)).  Due to logistical reasons, I'm limiting the group to no more than 10 players total.
