First, at 6:30 we'll play Acquire, Sid Sackson's 1962 masterpiece that remains as fun to play today as ever.  Highly strategic, a simple mechanism to simulate supply and demand effects and inside information results in a really captivating game.  Plus, it's game entry #5 on Boardgame Geek so you can put a check mark by a very early game on the BGG list.  :)  You definitely want to give it a try if you've not played it before, and I know it's a favourite of quite a lot of SaskGames folk.

At 8:30 we'll play Megacquire which is being renamed Megacquisitions.  This is Lloyd Solon's reimagining of Acquire, using a hexagonal grid instead of a square one, which really changes the strategy.  This is a limited edition game that's not too common in the wild but I managed to find a copy and would finally like to give it a try.  This will be my first playing, but the gameplay is very similar to Acquire.  If you've tried Acquire and enjoyed it you will likely want to give Megacquire a try.

I'm estimating a bit on the playtime for Megacquire but since Wednesday is Remembrance Day, most of us shouldn't need to be in bed too early.

People are welcome to sign up to one or the other or, of course, both.  I'll run them as long as a minimum of four people sign up.

This week I'm bringing out a personal favourite, the dice-worker-placement/area control/sci-fi game Alien Fontiers. Your dice are your space ships, used to mine resources and accomplish different tasks. You primarily use the resources to colonize an alien world. Colonizing different areas gives you different powers that can help you in your mission. There's a variety of ways to get your colonies down and screw over your opponents in the process. Additionally, I'll have both of the main expansions as well as all of the mini expansions thrown in, as well.

It's a medium weight game that's a lot of fun without being too difficult & everyone's welcome to give it a try. It can play up to 6 but anything over 4 is too long so I'll cap it at that. It plays in 90min or so but with teaching and the expansions it'll probably be more like 120min.

Alright, back in action. I'd like to bring out one of my favourites, Lords of Waterdeep, with both expansions. It can play up to 6 people. For newcomers, the expansions don't require much more knowledge about the base game, it's pretty much just one extra rule and more gameplay options (which are in my opinion, necessary to fully enjoying the game)
