Hi Lori, yeah I did see the new treasure chest kickstarter, Bricktown and I backed it together for the complete set each about an hour after it went online. No safer place on kickstarter than Jamey to deliver a reliable product.

Alcatraz: The Scapegoat is a game about conflicted loyalties. On one hand, the players work together to bust out of the famous prison; on the other hand they all know that one of them will be left behind as the scapegoat.
Alcatraz is a peculiar game because while it is cooperative in some aspects, with players needing to work together to complete tasks, the game has loads of negative interaction as one player will always be the scapegoat. You don't want to be that guy. You don't "go all in," you don't always keep your promises, and you don't do "what's best for the group." Instead, you do everything you can to become indispensable, and "everything" is literal here – even if it means stealing from, betraying, and blackmailing other players.
In order to escape from Alcatraz, the players need to complete six parts of a plan. Each part is a "pick-up and deliver" task requiring specific items obtained in different parts of the prison. Once each part of the plan is completed, every player but the scapegoat moves a little closer to escaping, with the scapegoat being voted on each round by all the players – most likely the player who contributed the least to completing that particular task, but you never know. Thus, you could say that Alcatraz is a cooperative game – but with a twist.
I think I'd like to try and teach Caverna for at 7:30. It's a bit of a space hog, I think, so I'm going to cap it at 4. If attendance is a bit lighter, and people are interested I could make room for more. I'd expect about 2.5 hours.

You and three others are shipwrecked on a desert isle, and must work together to signal a passing plane and get rescued. But who will be the hero? Beneath all the co-operation and starvation is a not-so-silent struggle to be portrayed as the hero of the story while convincing all those other suckers to take care of the menial tasks of staying alive. I'm not planning on staying too late this week so I figured I'd bring out a quick game: Medieval Academy, a big hit at the last Essen convention. It's a French, card-drafting game that's language independent (and it came with an English copy of the rules, anyway). The players are squires being trained to become knights. Each turn cards are dealt out and drafted (each player keeps one card from their hand, passes the remainder to the next player, keeps another card and so on). Different cards activate the 5 different boards on the table in a variety of ways to score you points. Whoever has the most points at the end is knighted.
It's a fun, light, cartoony game (artwork by Piero who did Ghost Stories, a bunch of Dixit sets, Rampage, River Dragons) that only take 30-45 minutes with teaching and plays up to 5 players. Really easy to learn, everyone's welcome to play.
