*** ChewsDay Challenge ***
(https://sask.games/gallery/1_11_09_12_10_24_41.gif)

What: The ChewsDay Challenge series of events is part of an initiative to host a public weekly game night that is welcoming to new members and is a way for people new to boardgames to experience a beginner friendly atmosphere. A opportunity for people new to designer board games or veterans of the hobby to come out, meet 'n' greet, and play some games.   This is held at a great location with full food and beverage service. Come on out and try some games.

The venue is also a great place for Wargamers and Strategy Gamers to come out and play a game. There are some titles that are hard to get to the table, let's try to get them the attention they deserve at a ChewsDay Challenge.

Where: North Albert St. Boston Pizza (Regina) (http://sask.games/index.php?topic=2043.0)

When: Every ChewsDay night of course, see date on this post for this particular event.

Who: Anyone interested in playing boardgames. The venue is suitable for many different styles of games: (Wargames, Euro Games, Crokinole, Chess, Go, Scrabble, Backgammon, etc.)

Why: Life is Short; Play Games!

Although not necessary, we urge you to post in this thread if you are coming and what games you might bring or would like to play. Prearranging some games helps get some of the harder titles to the table. Perhaps you have seen someone post about a game in THIS THREAD (http://sask.games/index.php?topic=1799.0), this might be an opportunity to get them to bring out the game and show you.

If you are new to the gaming scene in the City of Regina, come on out and meet some others. Feel free to come a bit early and grab a bite to eat. See you there!!!  :excited

Every ChewsDay Challenge, we will have a Game Host on site to teach a game. This is a great way for new players to experience a game in a beginner friendly environment. The Weekly Game will be set up at 6:15pm and players are urged to be there for 6:30. The feature game will start at 6:45pm. Note: A number of us go early (5ish) to grab a bite to eat, you are welcome to join us.

Without further adieu, here is the Game Host of the week:

There are lots of people bringing games out to play on ChewsDay Challenge Game Nights. To help attendees maximize their gaming experience we can help schedule games into slots for planning purposes. Post in the thread if you want to schedule a game and have folks sign up in advance. There are TWO basic time slots for this. 6:30pm time slot and 8:30pm. This is the start time for these games. They will be set up earlier. If you sign up for a game, please be there at least 15 minutes prior to start or your seat may be given to someone else. This is not mandatory, casual open gaming is still very much encouraged as well. Whether you wish to plan your game night or just show up and play it by ear, game on...

In Small World, players vie for conquest and control of a world that is simply too small to accommodate them all.

Designed by Philippe Keyaerts as a fantasy follow-up to his award-winning Vinci, Small World is inhabited by a zany cast of characters such as dwarves, wizards, amazons, giants, orcs, and even humans, who use their troops to occupy territory and conquer adjacent lands in order to push the other races off the face of the earth.

Picking the right combination from the 14 different fantasy races and 20 unique special powers, players rush to expand their empires - often at the expense of weaker neighbors. Yet they must also know when to push their own over-extended civilization into decline and ride a new one to victory!

Barring any potential scheduling issues I could run a game of Formula D if enough people are interested.

Hey Tempest.
Do you want us to schedule this in or is work going to interfere with you attending. Let us know if and when you know you will be attending and we can schedule this in.

Since I won't have my schedule til later, I'll just NOT try to schedule a game so I don't get people's hopes up and all that. Instead, I'll just say that if I *DO* show, I'll probably be bringing some games, and hoping to drop in on stuff, depending on what's available. Sorry.

Ascension is a fast paced deckbuilding game designed by Magic Pro Tour champions Justin Gary, Rob Dougherty, and Brian Kibler, with artwork by Eric Sabee. Ascension is a deck-building game where players spend Runes to acquire more powerful cards for their deck. It offers a dynamic play experience where players have to react and adjust their strategy accordingly.

Gameplay is similar to other deckbuilding games, with the player adding cards to their deck by purchasing them from a central deck, which has the top six cards revealed and available for purchase. When cards are removed, they are replaced with a new one from the top of the deck. Victory points are earned in three ways: firstly, each card purchased is worth one or more victory points; second, victory points can be gained by defeating monsters with a power resource featured on several of the cards; finally, some cards give victory points directly each time they are played.

Hi, my wife and I are new to Regina and would like to check out this event.  We have a few games we could bring, if anyone's interested...

Betrayal at House on the Hill (probably our favourite)
Arkham Horror
Powergrid
Fury of Dracula

We are familiar with a bunch more, though we would like to try Small World (we're both Ticket to Ride fans).  Anyhoo, please sign us both up for Tuesday the 29th.  Thanks!

Welcome to Regina!

Arkham Horror probably has too big a footprint to fit on the tables there, but I'd love to see the other three you mentioned in play some Chewsday (Fury of Dracula's my personal favourite).

Hello Damien & Becky!

I have put you down on the waiting list for Small World. If we can't get you in we play it all the time at ChewsDay Challenge. There will be much gaming going on but maybe bring a game of your own just in case. I always bring a couple games as back up in hopes of playing someone else's.

Sorry Matt I did some research and found my set will play Chinese, European or Kong Kong style. And the style I learned to play is known as Chinese official. For the American version I would need joker tiles that I dont have.

I've been looking for people to play Fury of Dracula with...I find it takes commitment  ;)

If anyone's ever tried it, "Betrayal at House on the Hill" is easy to learn, about an hour to play and a ton of fun.  We will bring it with us on Tuesday.

I'm Ambassador for this game night and I look forward to seeing everyone. It's been about a month since my last Chewsday Challenge and I'm jonesing for some board game action. I'm going to bring some quick-playing games for when the hand-shaking and "hellos" are done and I can sit down at the table.

I'll bring Escape From the Curse of the Temple. I can teach it in about 10 minutes and every game plays in 10 minutes. I'll also bring Linja, Six and Kulami-- three great 2-player games.

And Snake Oil. I can't come to Chewsday Challenge without Snake Oil.... :)

Hello Damien & Becky & welcome to Regina. I've been very interested in playing Betrayal. I'm hoping to be there around 6:30, but I have some driving to do so if the weather is poor, I may be a touch later. If I'm too late or if you have a full game, I will try to get in on it another time. I'm looking forward to meeting you both & to playing some games. Cheers.

I'm hoping to make it out this week. Weather permitting, I will be bringing Lords of Waterdeep, City of Thieves, Level 7: Escape, Munchin & Zombies. If I don't play Betrayal at House on the Hill I'll have time to play 2 games. If anyone would like to play any of these games let me know. I know Barry wanted to play Level 7:Escape & something else(sorry, bad memory). If he's feeling better & is able to attend, we'll probably play Level 7:Escape. Either way, I'm bringing a bunch of games & I'd be happy to play any of them so just let me know if any of them interest you. Thanks & I'll see you on Tuesday, most likely.

I have space for 2 more players(myself & Barry so far). Cory, since I'm teaching CCOT instead of Level 7:Escape, let me know if you want in on this game & I'll sign you up. Here is a list of games I will be bringing &, if time allows, could teach afterwards:

Level 7: Escape
Lords of Waterdeep
Zombies!
Quarriors
Munchkin

I look forward to tomorrow.
